One of the highlights of this year’s convention is an optional Whale Watching Cruise with a Salmon Bake dinner at Orca Point Lodge. The cost is $75 per person which includes a 2½ hour Whale/Wildlife watching cruise and a delicious salmon buffet dinner at the lodge on Colt Island. Sign up early! This adventure is limited to the first 120 people. (Note: Optional event ticket cost is separate and not included in your convention registration fee)
Transportation to Don Statter Boat Harbor in Auke Bay will leave Centennial Hall Wednesday September 22nd at 2:15 pm. The catamaran will depart Auke Bay harbor at 3:00 pm for a 2 ½ hour cruise, arriving at Orca Point Lodge at 5:30 pm.
The cruise departs Orca Point Lodge at 6:30 pm, arriving back at the harbor at 7:00 pm where transportation to downtown Juneau awaits.
If travelling through or from Anchorage by air on Wednesday September 22rd and want to participate in the cruise, plan to arrive in Juneau on Alaska Flight 62 at the latest, which departs Anchorage at 7:50 am and arrives in Juneau at 9:25 am. This allows plenty of time to get situated and registered for the convention.
Check airline and ferry schedules if traveling from Ketchikan, Wrangell, Petersburg or Sitka. Plan to board transportation to Auke Bay at 2:15 pm at Centennial Hall.
Ice Breaker
Ice Breaker
 On Thursday September 23rd, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, plan on attending the “Ice Breaker” at the Andrew P. Kashevarof State Library, Archives and Museum. A no-host bar with beer and wine and heavy hors d’oeuvres will be available.
Grand Ball
The Grand Ball begins on Friday, September 24th at 7:00 pm with the Grand March followed by music by the Thunder Mountain Big Band. A no-host bar and light hors d’oeuvres shall be available. Period (1920’s) costumes are encouraged and prizes will be awarded for best man, woman, couple and most original categories.
Grand Banquet
The Grand Banquet shall be served on Saturday September 25th at 6:30pm, with background music provided by the Juneau Symphony Quartet. The menu choice is either Prime Rib or Halibut. |
