Erected by Igloo No. 6  Pioneers of Alaska

In memory of Richard T. Harris and Joseph Juneau who landed here August 15, 1880 and selected this spot as their first camp site.

Here they discovered gold which resulted in the founding of Juneau, the first white settlement established in Alaska under American possession.
